Birchbox Review and Why I Unsubcribed

If you don't know what Birchbox is, it's a $10 monthly beauty subscription. Every month you will receive 5 deluxe sample sizes of products and 1 lifestyle extra item so a total of 6 items. I have done a lot of researching before going on to find the perfect affordable beauty subscription. I am a full-time student and mom. I wanted something affordable yet to have a "WOW" factor. In the last three months I've subscribed to Beauty Army, Birchbox and Ipsy. I have unsubscribed to Beauty Army and Birchbox.

WHY I UNSUBSCRIBED:

 1. Birchbox gives out a lot of perfume samples, which is good for people who loves perfume. I personally don't love love perfume. I hate perfume samples even if they are small it still sits around for awhile because I don't use perfume on a daily basis maybe just twice a month when I go out or so.

2. In both boxes I got little hair shampoo/conditioner samples. And again... these samples are just sitting around. I don't think using these samples once can determine if I should get the full size product.

3.  Overall, there were just more products that I wouldn't use than products that I would use. I don't think Birchbox is a bad beauty subscription.

*If you like samples and always use them up, you like perfume and hair products then yes Birchbox is for you.

*If you think your samples is just going to pile up like mine and it doesn't go into your regular makeup/hair/skincare storage then Birchbox isn't for you.

It doesn't hurt to give it a try, it will hurt more if you never tried it :)

Influenster

What Is Influenster

Influenster is a free-to-join community of invited trendsetters who live to give opinions of products and experiences. Influenster creates links between brands and members to reward participation and influence future products.
So...what exactly is Influenster? So glad you asked. Here’s a handy definition that would make Merriam-Webster proud:

Influenster [in-floo-uhn-ster]

noun
An exclusive online community where tastemakers and trendsetters (such as yourself) come to share the latest and greatest news, places, products, and reviews with each other. 2. The hotspot you just bookmarked on your web browser that turns your social influence into sweet rewards.
Basically, Influenster is a place for culture junkies to come together and share their unique opinions of products and experiences. Active members of Influenster get exclusive access to deals, promotions, and swag from brands that thrive off the input (the good, the bad, and the ugly -- they just want to know what's up).

Do I have the chops to be a member?

Probably. Members have an active social life -- both online and offline -- and are always the first to tell friends about the latest discoveries. They want to be the first to know about the products other cool people are loving and hating. Is that you? Awesome, we want you as a member.

What’s involved in a membership?

As a member, you prove your influence by gaining Expert Badges and show how you live by earning LifeStage Badges...both of which are won in a variety of ways, such as: completing surveys, writing reviews, creating videos, and engaging in other social media.

What’s in it for me?

Very important. As a contributing member of Influenster, you get the chance to share your knowledge and know-how with other like-minded people.
You also get exclusive discounts on products and services based on the Expert Badges you unlock. You’ll have access to content and sales based on your influence and area of expertise.
As an active influencer, you’ll have the chance to get invites to Influenster programs so you can try the latest and coolest products catered towards your lifestyle before anyone else.
Members who participate actively on Influenster and engage in programs increase their opportunities to receive rewards.
If you participate in online challenges, play interactive games, spread the word to your friends, and gain currency within our system, you’ll earn serious street cred.

So wait, is this about getting free stuff?

Nope. If you’re here to mooch, this isn't the place for you. Nobody, no matter how high his or her Influenster Score, is guaranteed rewards. Even if you are offered a reward, you can always opt out. The real benefit of membership is access to exclusive content, product reviews, and discussion within a community of tastemakers. Perks are just the icing on the proverbial cake.

Why is this so fun?

There are many reasons. First and foremost, it's a forum for you and your peers to share your interests and discover what other trendsetters are doing and saying. It's like-minded people coming together to inspire one another and offer advice. Secondly, you’re competing with other members for the highest Influenster Score and Expert Badge scores. Just like a game that you can win, and winning is never not fun.

How did Influenster get started?

It was a dark and stormy night…wait, that’s not right. Influenster was started in 2010 by a team of people just like you: culture and beauty junkies with a whole lot of opinions about everything. We wanted a place to come together to share our opinions and hear what other people like us had to say about products and services. The goal? To learn what other influencers care about and to help brands make products that better serve us. After so many hours of labor, out popped Influenster -- an active community where real people share their experiences and give feedback to improve the products we use and the world we live in (yeah, we went there).
After all, you don't have to be a celebrity to think Diet Coke is bubbly and delicious. Every one of us can be influential in different areas with opinions that matter. As consumers, we want to know what other people like us think about products. Influenster is our answer. We give your opinions a voice and your feedback a direct route to brands and trendsetters.

I hope you find this helpful :)

Eclos Skincare Kit Review

I do not own this photo
Hello everyone, this is HnubciBeauty and today's review is on Eclos Skincare Kit. I don't know about you but to me skincare is a must. I love experimenting new products to see what's best for my skin.

Here is a little information about the products taken from the original website:
Plant Stem Cells — New Hope for Aging Skin
The Discovery
Researchers have found that Plant Stem Cells extracted from a rare
Swiss apple, (Uttwiler Spätlauber), show tremendous ability to
stimulate skin stem cells, encouraging aging skin to behave like
younger skin.
Enriched with PhytoPlex24™
Plant extracts, vitamins and anti-oxidants work in
synergy with the Plant Stem Cell technology to help
minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and
tired skin.
Clinically Proven Results
  • 100% of the women saw a reduction in wrinkle appearance
    within 2 weeks
  • Skin’s collagen matrix and elastin fibroblasts can look up to
    15 years younger
(a 50 year old subject’s skin can appear like that of a 35 year old)

The Review:

Facial Cleanser
Plant Stem Cell technology begins with deep cleansing. This gentle formula lifts away makeup and daily debris while PhytoPlex24™ botanicals balance the skin’s pH level. Skin’s ready to re-energize!
  • Extends Skin Cell Longevity
  • Gently Purifies Pores
  • Primes For Treatment
Use: Using gentle circular motions, massage a quarter-size amount of cleanser onto damp skin. Cleanser rinses completely away with warm water.

This cleanser is like a hand soap. I like it but I don't think it's unique or different from any other facial cleansers out there. It does prep your face for the next few steps. Make sure to remove all your makeup first because this cleanser will not remove your makeup. I don't feel the I need to purchase full size.

Instant Radiance
Facial Scrub
Gentle microdermabrasion refines skin’s surface texture. Plant Stem Cells invigorate skin stem cells to smooth fine lines and help delay signs of aging. Natural nutrients found in PhytoPlex24™ restore and maintain skin’s youthful pH balance.
  • Activates Cell Renewal
  • Removes Dull, Dry Skin Cells
  • Improves Texture and Tones
Use: Massage scrub onto clean, wet face, using fingertips and gentle, circular motions. Be careful not to get scrub in eyes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use once daily, every
other day.
This facial scrub is my favorite scrub. It have micro-beads. When it burst into your face it feels like a good burning sensation. After the scrub, my face feels good and relaxed. I would repurchase the full size.

Cellular
Activator
Face Serum
Plant Stem Cell technology in this lightweight liquid awakens dormant skin cells, making them behave like young skin cells. Unique PhytoPlex™ plant extracts help visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Skin quickly becomes smoother, softer,
more youthful looking.
  • Regenerates Skin Cells
  • Rehabilitates Aging Skin
  • Resists Further Damage
Use: Lightly smooth serum over clean skin in the morning and at bedtime. May be used under Eclos™ Regenerative Cream for optimal effects.
I love this serum. The serum is like a gel (similar to gel foundation primer). There's something about it that makes my face feel awake. I like how it absorbs fast so I don't have to wait for it to dry. Yes I plan to get the full size.

Restorative
Eye Cream

The eye area shows the first signs of aging. Scientists now believe that Plant Stem Cells can reinvigorate skin stem cells, tightening and dramatically reducing the appearance of fine lines. Potent plant extracts in PhytoPlex24™ quickly hydrate to further smooth and firm.
  • Slow Signs of Aging
  • Firms Delicate Skin
  • Reduces Fine Lines
Use: As the last step in the Eclos anti-aging regimen, gently pat eye cream around eye area, morning and night.

I can't tell the difference because these products are towards anti-aging. I don't have any wrinkles yet; I am just trying to prevent them. I find eye creams to take the longest for results. I've been using eclos skincare kit for one month now and honestly I can't tell the difference. I am going to wait longer before I can decide if I want to repurchase the full size.

Moisture Therapy
Regenerative Cream
The latest in Plant Stem Cell technology helps protect skin’s ability to renew itself. The result? Sagging skin tightens. Wrinkles are postponed. Combined with PhytoPlex24™ anti-oxidants for the ultimate in aging defense.
  • Awakens Cell Renewal
  • Brightens Dull Skin
  • Reduces Line And Wrinkles
Use: May be used alone or for optimal results apply over Eclos™ Cellular Activator Face Serum day or night.
I love this moisturizer. The moisturizer is like cream mixed with lotion. It's not thick and not too creamy. My face glows every morning. I plan to repurchase full size.

Skin Renewal
Clay Mask
Kaolin Clay and plant-based PhytoPlex24™ help detoxify skin. Plant Stem Cell technology helps reverse signs of aging and maintain skin’s natural resilience. Used with the eclos™ regimen, skin can look up to 15 years younger.
  • Restores Youthful Texture
  • Absorbs Dirt and Impurities
  • Tightens and Reduces Pores
Use: Smooth a thin layer of mask over clean face and neck, avoiding the eye area. After mask hardens (between 5-10 minutes), rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use twice weekly for maximum effect.
I hate this product the most. I don't know what it is but my skin hurts when I use this product.

 Final thoughts:

This kit was worth it's price. All of the products have the same smell. I wish the moisturizer had more product in it :)

* I bought this kit with my on money. All reviews were my opinions based on experiences.

I do not own this photo.

Model 21 Eyelashes REVIEW!!!

Model 21 False Eyelashes are all 100% handmade.
  • 10 pairs of Model 21 false eyelashes in each box
  • Free shipping with orders of 3 box eyelashes or more (USA)
  • Free 1 box with purchase of 4 or more (same brand)

left to right: 2T, 32, 31 16T and 11T (lower lash)

For my Asian eyes,  I did cut the lashes off a little bit at the end for 2T but I realize I can wear it without cutting it off also. I love that 31 gives a very natural look. 16T is more dramatic for my eyes and is something I would wear out but not for everyday. I haven't try 32 because it's very similar to 31. The only difference is 32 has a crisscross pattern and 31 doesn't. I'm not used to applying lower lash so I can't do a review on 11T.

I recommend 2T, 16T and 31 or 32 (don't get both). If you like the crisscross pattern get 32.

  • Comfort is 4.5/5 when I first put these on I feel like its not real since its synthetic but after I've been wearing it for two months I am used to it and it's definitely comfortable.
  • Quality 4/5 it's very light, doesn't have the feeling of droopy lashes.
  • Price 5/5 great for its quality.
  • Shipping 5/5 it took 3 days for my order to get to me
If you like eyelashes and want to try out model 21 eyelashes click here ----> Model 21 False Eyelashes

UPDATE 6/18/12: I have been loving the 16T. It's not dramatic at all and can still be worn during the day. I have tried 32 now too and I like the crisscross pattern more so next time I'm not ordering 31 :D As for the bottom lashes 11T, I haven't tried that yet. Hopefully sometimes soon.

16T

UPDATE: 8/18/12: I did notice the front (near the tear duct) of my lashes comes off when wearing it for a few hours. I believe my allergy could be effecting it but I don't know for sure, it could also be my lash glue. I still love 16T, I did a dramatic look with it the other day and it was gorgeous.

UPDATE: 10/12/12: My final thoughts.
These are the best eyelashes and I will repurchase more. I get so much compliments on them, also when I shared these with my sisters they all want to know where I bought these lashes. I definitely recommend everyone to try it out. But keep in mind what works for me might not work for you :)

The brushes I use/Review

Sonia Kashuk Star Studded 7-piece Brush Set  $24.99
These are my current everyday brushes. I came from using my fingers and elf's $1.00 brushes to these :D My goal this year was to start doing make up tutorials so investing in better brushes and an HD camcorder was a must!!! I am closer to my goal. There are still a lot of growing and learning along the way but I'm so proud of what I have accomplish so far.
  • 6 essential eye and 1 face brushes~ glossy turquoise and gold accents.
  • chic woven clutch
  • made from synthetic and cruelty-free goat hair.
*Most brushes in this kit, I believe can be purchased individually.

THE REVIEW

Powder/Blush Brush - A must have brush in this kit. I love the size of this brush. It's also very soft. It picks up a good amount of product and blends blush beautifully.
*I use this brush for powder and blush.

Large Angled Eye Shadow Brush - Another super soft brush. This brush can be used on the crease and blended up, good for people with more eyelid space. As for me, I have a small eyelid space so I can't use it on the crease. I have use it on the lids up to brow bone on my Spring Inspired/Color Blocking make up tutorial :D
* This is not a must have for me, because it is a bit large for my eyes.

Eye Shadow Brush - Great for applying eye shadows on the eyelids. A must have for everyday make up.
*I use this to pack eye shadows on my eyelids.

Crease Brush - A dome shaped, flexible, and dense brush. It can and will blend cream as well as powder eye shadows. Again, super soft and no scratching or poking done to the eye when blending effortlessly. Yes, another must have :)
*I use this for blending and I love it.

Shader Brush - A stiff small brush. Perfect for applying highlight to the tear duct and eye shadow to the lower lash line. Can also be used to smudge eye liner.
Spoolie - No comment

Bent Eyeliner Brush -Great for applying gel liners, black eye shadow as a liner or any liner besides pencil.
E.L.F Studio Line Powder Brush $3.00
THE REVIEW

Powder Brush: A must have brush. Super soft, dense and very affordable. It does have a little bit on shedding when washing. I love using this brush to apply bronzer/contour. It is also good for blush.

*Filmed with Sony HDR-CX160 HandyCam
*Edit in Windows Live Movie Maker
*Microphone used: Samson C03U USB Condenser Microphone
*Voice recorded with Sound Forge

These brushes were purchased by me and I'm not getting paid to review them. Everything stated are honest opinions.

Overall these brushes are a great permanent replacement for my $1.00 elf brushes from last year :] There are many other brush brands I still want to try out, but since I'm a beauty on a budget person Sonia Kashuk is good enough for now lol.

Wet n' Wild megalast Nail Lacquer Review

THE REVIEW
*I own 6 shades of the Wet n' Wild megalast nail lacquers.
  • These nail lacquers are very opaque.
For me personally, I can do only one coat and be satisfied, but I still prefer two coats for those who have time and not in a rush.
  • It have a very nice and smooth finish.
  • I went up to 4/5 days with no chipping (using base coat and no top coat).
Remember the staying power may be different for everyone.
  •  Will I recommend these polish? Yes.

I'm a newbie at nails. Mainly because I have no patience for my nails to dry. It takes forever... especially if you apply two or three good coats. So here is a nail art that I did on one hand. I have no name for it because I'm still a beginner trying things out. All products used will be listed below.

Here are the polishes and tools I used to do the nail art:

1. Sally Hansen Double Duty (Base Coat)

2. Wet n' Wild megalast nail lacquers:
  • 218A I Need A Refresh-Mint/ Menthe fraiche
  • 209C Candy-licious/ Rose bon bon
  • 214C I Red a Good Book/ Ballon rouge
3.Seche Vite (Top Coat)

4. Nail dotting tools

A color combo that I tried. I like this combo a lot:

This will be a good Spring nail look also :]

For these nails I used the Wet n' Wild megalast in:
  • 218A I Need A Refresh-Mint/ Menthe fraiche
  • 209C Candy-licious/ Rose bon bon
